I've been decorating cakes for the last 9 years. My maternal grandmother took up decorating cakes and made birthday cakes for me, my brother and sister and many of my cousins. She passed away when I was 4 and I never really remembered her decorated cakes until just out of High School when I got a summer job helping to stock and open a new Michael's store near where I lived. I was given the task of setting up the Wilton isle and I remember coming home and telling my mom how exciting and interesting cake decorating looked. That was when she told me about my grandmother. After that, I think I ended up spending more time looking at the Wilton products more than stocking shelves. Soon after that as a birthday gift, my mom paid for me to take the first Wilton course. I didn't go any further than that first course because I am a left-y and the Wilton instructor had a hard time teaching me. Soon after, life got in the way and I got married and started building a family and cakes took the back burner. It wasn't until my 2nd daughter's first birthday that I decided to get into decorating again and created her a special cake. Ever since then it has become a passion of mine and I have steadily been creating custom cakes ever since. Pretty much everything I know I have learned from reading books, scouring the internet and from the many wonderful fellow cake decorators I have met in online message boards.
I currently live in West Texas with my husband of more than 15 years and 3 children ranging in ages from 13 to 6.
